Anna Rawls is a visual anthropologist and photographer based Brooklyn, NY

Driven by her deep curiosity, social awareness and aesthetic understanding, she works alongside individuals and communities to create work that expands analysis, communication, and interpretation of the human experience. Thematically, her work explores concepts of identity, belonging, and narratives that exist at the margins.

This project was completed independently during the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020. The short film has since been accepted in six international film festivals. The images and writing have been published by The Marshall Project.
